WELCOME TO CENTENNIAL LACROSSE !!!

Welcome to our Centennial Lacrosse “family” we are excited for your upcoming participation in our club!! We are proud of our club and what we’ve been able to achieve over the past 10 years. Two years ago a Board was established to reside over our club, you are always welcome to attend board meetings. Our website is another great accomplishment, it is full of great information including game schedules, calendar of events, team standings, field locations, information about required physicals for players, and awesome action pictures. Please visit the site www.patslax.net and have a look. Over the past two years, our team raised enough money to purchase new uniforms for Varsity and by spring we will be getting new maroon uniforms for our JV players! We are excited to have you join the fun! Also, if you have friends interested in lacrosse, please share this information with them.

Here is information we thought you might find helpful and also give you an idea of what to expect.

Although, our actual season doesn’t begin until mid-February, we are active for much of the year with community service projects, making tournament or travel plans and fundraising. The players often get out and have pick up games, or as the season nears, player run practices will begin. We will have an informational parent/player meeting in the fall to share information, answer questions and explain how to register At this meeting we will offer Centennial Lacrosse spirit wear, which will be ordered and ready in time for holiday gift giving.

As you may or may not know, lacrosse in Idaho is a club sport, which means it is not sanctioned by the school district, which also means there is not funding. We pay for field space, field paint, referees, scorebooks, uniforms, Gatorade, tournament entry fees, travel to tournaments, all other related costs. Our fees for last season were $225 per player (due in January), also players are required to have a US Lacrosse membership, which provides additional insurance and allows them to play in competitions. The card is good for one year and runs $35. If your player has played lacrosse they may already have the card, if it expires before the end of May 2011 it will need to be renewed before registering for the spring season. Players need some basic equipment, the LAX Idaho store offers “starter packs” of necessary gear at a good price. Keep in mind, if you are acquiring a helmet, our color is maroon.

The past two years we have had an annual garage sale fundraiser in October, please start setting aside items, as this is a “win-win” money maker for our club. You get to clean our your house and the club makes operational money. We can’t do it without you! This is an opportunity to invite people to come give us money for our “junk” and two years running it has netted an average of $1000. So please start saving items now so we’ll have lots to sell.

Again, we are so excited to continue the great tradition of honoring the game of lacrosse and growing this great sport!
